ADHD Test Canada

Looking for an ADHD test in Canada? Learn what online ADHD screening can and cannot tell you and what a clinical ADHD assessment involves.

Looking for an ADHD test online?

Many people begin by searching for an online ADHD test. Screening questionnaires can be useful starting points, but there is no single online test that can confirm an ADHD diagnosis.

What an ADHD screener can do

A screener asks about symptoms associated with ADHD and can identify whether further assessment may be worthwhile. Screening tools are designed to flag possibilities, not establish a diagnosis.

What a screener cannot do

A questionnaire cannot determine whether symptoms began during childhood, measure the full pattern of impairment, perform a medical review or adequately distinguish ADHD from anxiety, depression, sleep problems and other causes of poor concentration.

What a clinical ADHD assessment adds

A clinical assessment combines symptom information with developmental history, functional impairment, medical and mental-health history and, when appropriate, collateral information. Standardized scales can support this process but are only one part of it.

Can ADHD assessment be virtual?

Many components of ADHD assessment can be completed virtually when clinically appropriate. Some situations may still require an in-person examination, additional investigation or referral.

Start with a screening check

If you are unsure whether your experiences could fit ADHD, the Tersalus ADHD Quick Check can be used as a starting point. It is a screening tool, not a diagnosis.
